Babis Blazoudakis says: "The composition" St. Menas: Facing the Sea (Darkness) "was born through the encouragement of the Honourable Mr. Alkis Baltas, the summer of 2010, when he asked me to compose a work for the Festival of Sacred Music of Patmos 2011.
The work begins and ends with the sound of the sea, to me, symbolizes the darkness that surrounds us daily. Agios Minas, brilliant, when I was tortured could overcome the power of human nature to survive and ascend to God as holy, as a guide, an island in the stormy sea. The waves of the sea filled in regularly by the rhythmic action of the project. For inspiration I looked to both sides: The first was a poem in English by Annie Lekkas, translated into Greek by Alexander Lekkas. The second inspiration came from a distant journey into ovens to guide his friend, colleague and vocalist Panagiotis Bush, who also interprets the work with the wonderful voice. "
